DeepWater Treasure Recovery:Our highly skilled team of robotics experts, systems engineers, and developers has already created a unique new generation technology, which sets us three years ahead of any possible competitors. To truly benefit from the potential of Deepwater Syst.©, we need to build the largest fleet of autonomous gliders in the world. We plan to begin a systematic scanning of the seabed along the historical trade routes between the New and the Old World in the Caribbean Sea, in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Based on the information collected by DeepWater gliders, we will form a centralized database of underwater shipwrecks and mineral resources. This information will be available for sale on the online auction platform DeepWater Market© to any interested registered user.
ICO Alert: How does the DeepWater Treasure Recovery token (DWT) function within the platform and why is it needed?
DeepWater Treasure Recovery: A token is needed to obtain discounts on the DeepWater Market© platform. Also, holders of the DWT token participate in our loyalty program and will receive a portion of the project’s profit.
ICO Alert: Please share with us where the idea for users being able to buy information about coordinates for discovered shipwrecks, mineral resources, and other anomalies originated.
DeepWater Treasure Recovery: Initially, the DeepWater project was designed as a private system for exploring and searching for sunken objects. We did not plan to sell the coordinates of the objects, but having analyzed the market of deepwater surveys, we were sure that there is no analog of our system and will not appear in the near future, we decided to be the first and take the leading position.
ICO Alert: In your whitepaper, you discuss how current consumption trends may exhaust most of Earth’s profitable mineral deposits on land. Please describe the value of resources available in the world’s ocean bed and how these deposits may increase in value over time.
DeepWater Treasure Recovery: If the consumption trend continues, in the next 20–30 years the world will exhaust most of its profitable mineral deposits on land. In this light, deep-sea mining of minerals becomes an increasingly attractive investment opportunity. In addition to oil and gas, the world’s ocean bed contains vast amounts of resources: coal, iron ore, phosphates, sulfur, and precious stones. Of all minerals, metals are a particularly valuable resource. Prices of metals have skyrocketed recently due to the rapid developments in the microelectronic industry and a trend towards green technologies. Deep-sea deposits of valuable metals are immense.
There are three types of deposits, according to the type of formation: polymetallic ferromanganese nodules, ferromanganese crusts, and sulfide deposits. Polymetallic ferromanganese nodules are rich in nickel, copper, cobalt, and lithium. Ferromanganese crusts contain cobalt and more rare elements, such as tellurium (used in the production of solar cells). Sulfide deposits are rich in copper, gold, silver, and zinc.
ICO Alert: We love the idea of using a neural network in your gliders to recognize underwater objects with 98–99% accuracy. How did you design, develop, and test this system for optimal precision using artificial intelligence?
DeepWater Treasure Recovery: It is very difficult in two proposals to describe the whole volume of work done in three years. The system of recognition of underwater objects is developed on the basis of the TensorFlow framework. Simulation of the glider in various situations was carried out on a Virtual Underwater Simulator (UWSims) of 10,000 km2. Neural network training was conducted on real data collected by our gliders in the open water of Ecuador. The total time spent by gliders on data collection is 6 months.
ICO Alert: Your system boasts an amalgamation of deep learning, machine learning, and neural networks to classify new data for coordinates through a “Deep Score.” The process you have outlined for allocating arguments behind this score require technical experts to manually analyze this data. As your platform grows, how do you plan to scale operations over time with such a hands-on testing process?
DeepWater Treasure Recovery: As the platform grows and the number of data sets increase, the participation of a person in correcting the recognition is minimized.
ICO Alert: How large is the market for the treasure recovery business and how does DeepWater intend to market itself from the competition?
DeepWater Treasure Recovery: The market of deep-sea research is only beginning, current archaic fragmented methods of deep-water exploration pose serious obstacles to business development in these area and require huge investments. Exploratory expeditions often rely on incomplete historical records, approximate calculations, theories, intuition, and luck. We created technology which sets us three years ahead of any possible competitors, we do not rely on luck, we use a systematic approach to seabed research.
ICO Alert: How far along is the project today and when can contributors expect to use the platform? What does the roadmap look like for 2018?
DeepWater Treasure Recovery: The Deepwater team started working on the technological solution three years ago. Since then, the system has been designed, developed, and successfully tested.
